Bum bagsThe names alone are enough to put you off. When I head the American name for these monstrosities I nearly fell off my chair. Never has fashion been under such assault.

Bum bags have never been cool for British 90′s kids. They conjure up images of the Pet Shop Boys and MC Hammer trousers.

A fad for bum bags passed around during the early nineties -especially in Europe. I remember my Italian cousins bringing me a small waterproof jacket that could fold into a bum bag and I thought it was extremely sophisticated until my friends saw it.

Fanny packsMaking one’s derrier appear twice the size has never been the object of female desire -at least in the UK and bum bags do exactly that. They are frumpy old hat, although an extremely spine-friendly way of distributing weight around your body. Advisable for runners, but no-one else -bum bags can stay in the 20th century.

  3. I wholeheartedly agree 2 mR eD. I was once given a bum bag as a present and had to pretend to like it for a whole week until my relatives went away again!
