Jaws was one of the funniest villains in the James Bond film series along with Oddjob in “Goldfinger” and Irma Bunt out of “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”. He starred in “The Spy Who Loved Me” (1977) and “Moonraker” (1979). He was played by Richard Kiel who, at 7ft 2 inches, towers over all the other actors. His character becomes something of a joke in the Bond films with him surviving every disaster and setting off metal detectors. In something of a movie-world irony, Jaws defeats a shark in an underwater battle and it is implied that he even survives a space station disaster.Other famous scenes include: Jaws biting through a metal cable, James Bond hurting his fist whilst trying to punch Jaws and Jaws getting up and dusting himself off after every crash.
He takes Dolly as his girlfriend and switches alliance to Bond in Moonraker in order to save her. Jaws is famous for only saying one line – a toast to his new found love with Dolly after the space station has been destroyed: “Well, here’s to us”.
