Loading ...Vanilla Ice in hindsight seems laughably unfashionable, but I’m reasonably certain that at the time Ice Ice Baby came out and took the world by storm, the old V dog was pretty cool.
The baseline was stolen (out of court settlement apparently) from Queen’s “Under Pressure”, and apparently it might be questionable whether, er, Ice himself actually even wrote the words either. All that legal hiatus aside, it is a great early rendition of rap music – which has since grown into a global music sensation in the form of hippity hop in its various mainstream guises.
I still remember seeing this video back in the old days, watch out for the funky dancing all round. Today’s hip hop videos with their throwing hundred dollar bills around and movie level budgets have nothing on this basement level mixup.
If I ever stop doing this Ice Ice Baby dance, its time to hang my shoes up.
