It’s 11:30 and you know that hunky builder has gotta get his shirt off. A shameless piece of sexual gratification on the part of Diet Coke. Pictures of female office workers perving on a construction worker led to claims of reverse sexism but, frankly, it’s just the way the cookie crumbles when you’re in an office full of women.
I Just Wanna Make Love To You (Diet Coke Advert) -Etta James
I dont want you
To be no slave
I dont want you
To work all day
But I want you, to be true
And I just wanna make love to you
Love to you
ooooo ooooo
Love to you
All I want to do is
Wash your clothes
I dont want to keep
you indoors
There is nothing for you to do
But keep me making love to you
Love to you
oooooo ooooo
Love to you
And I can tell by the way you, walk that walk
I can hear by the way you, talk that talk
And I can know by the way you, treat your girl
That I can give you all the lovin’ in the whole wide world
ooooo all I wanna do is make your bread
Just to make sure
Your well fed
I dont want you
Sad and blue
And I just wanna make love to you
Love to you
oooooo ooooo
Love to you
ooooo
And I can tell by the way you, walk that walk
And I can hear by the way you, talk that talk
And I can know by the way you, treat your girl
That I can give you all lovin’ in whole wide world
ooo all I wanna do, all I wanna do is
cook your bread
Just to make sure
your well fed
I dont want you
Sad and blue
And I just wanna make, love to you
Love to you
ooooo yeah
Love to you
oooo
Love to you
I love the outfits… and those glasses – glorious! We thought we were so cool in the 90s. We were wrong.
[...] Coca-Cola ramps up the advertising. This particular advert has become the signal for yuletide to begin. I heard somewhere that Coca-Cola invented the red coat for Santa Claus but that could just have been a self-aggrandising press release. I know the reindeers are German because two of them are called “Donner und Blitzen” so I reckon the Americans couldn’t have dressed Santa. [...]
I don’t like the new one where they meet a hunk in the lift -the builder is much sexier and less smarmy than the new skinny guy.
You’re so right – in the new diet Coke advert it’s the 3 gorgeous women and not so hot guy. It’s more of a male fantasy. The whole point of the ad seems to have fizzled out (excuse the pun). I noticed that in the 90s it was ok for women to be more predatorally sexual – to WANT men lol – the 00s are back to the good old days of women being the object.
They could have at least had a sexy guy tho!
I LOVED the 90s advert. I wouldn’t call it reverse discrimination, more about empowering women, after all the years women have been sexual objects.
It’s like always portraying white guys as the geek in black hiphop videos. I’m white and I don’t find that particularly racist – more as a reversal of roles, just a bit of fun. TV shows/ads always poke fun at one thing or the other and although I was just a kid when it came out I enjoyed watching the older women lusting for the hot younger guy.
BRING BACK THE 90s!
Check this alternative out, it was a friend of mine filmed by some mates who were heavily into film making and spoofs, quite popular on U-Tube
