Let’s get ready to rhumble! PJ & Duncan were the stars of Byker Grove -the cool kids. PJ was much cooler than Duncan, who was a bit soft. Duncan was the baby-faced nice one and PJ the fit, naughty one.

Played by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelley, the characters eventually grew up and out of their namesakes. After a rather woeful music career, the two forged a successful comedy and presenting partnership. The best of their work so far includes SM: Live and “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!!”

The cheeky chappies are characters in themselves, weaving in and out of fact and fiction on the screen, usually playing themselves. But we don’t mind, because no-one else has been such an advocate of the Geordie accent -or got away with saying “waye aye man” on national television.
