“Bidi bidi bidi” – Twiki says, as he helps the heroic Buck Rogers save the Earth once more. The television series, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, ran for two seasons between 1979 – 1981. The story was based on the character created in 1928 by Philip Francis Nowlan.

Captain William Anthony “Buck” Rogers, played by Gil Gerard, is a NASA pilot who commands Ranger 3, a space shuttle that launched in May 1987. The life support machine malfunctions and freezes Buck for 504 years. His spacecraft is discovered by Earthlings in the year 2491. The gases that froze his body in 1987 are similar to those used in the 25th century for cryopreservation, and his rescuers are able to revive him. He learns that civilization on Earth has been rebuilt following a devastating nuclear war on November 22, 1987, and is now under the protection of the Earth Defense Directorate.

Rogers is aided in his efforts to protect the futuristic Earth by Colonel Wilma Deering, played by Erin Gray, and Twiki the robot, voiced by Mel Blanc.

Dr. Theopolis, voiced by Eric Server, is a sentient computer with an illuminated face which Twiki wears around his neck. Dr. Theopolis is a member of Earth’s “computer council” and one of the planet’s scientific leaders. During the first season, Rogers and Deering take their orders from Dr. Elias Huer, played by Tim O’Connor, the head of the Defense Directorate.
