clarissaClueless typifies teenage girls in the 90′s. Well, how every girl wanted to be in the nineties anyway. For some reason, I always thought that Alicia Silverstone (who plays the main character Cher) was the same actress as Joan Hart (who plays Clarissa and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch). Compare these two images yourselves.

Every young teenage girl of that era wanted a nose stud, a mobile phone (which was incredibly rare at that time) and a boyfriend with a car that he could drive. Why? Because learning to drive is sooo like eeeugh!

According to some reports, this film was based on Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott. Literature aside, this is a fantastic coming-of-age story where the innocent, yet arrogant, Cher comes to terms with drunkeness, robbery, duplicity, love, loyalty and homosexuality over the course of a few months. Some great outfits and shopping trips also serve to give this genre a much needed breath of life.
