Kevin & Perry were two teenagers depicted by Harry Enfield and Cathy Burke respectively. The whole thing began on the midnight of Kevin’s 13th birthday where he transformed, werewolf-like, into a sullen, lazy and badly-dressed teenager who frequently reminded his parents that he hated them. Middle England went wild for this sketch and all its truisms about the difficulties of raising ‘youths’ who want to sound like Oasis or Ali G despite their obviously middle class origins. The parents in this series of sketches are quite amusing as they bait the hormonal beast that is their son and innocently question the irrational behaviour of a young man trying to ape his peers.
